Los humanos afectan los r\u00edos de diversas maneras: cambiando los usos del suelo de las cuencas hidrogr\u00e1ficas, alterando la morfolog\u00eda del canal fluvial y\/o vertiendo nutrientes, contaminantes emergentes y pat\u00f3genos a trav\u00e9s de las actividades urbanas e industriales que se desarrollan en las zonas adyacentes a los r\u00edos. Estas actividades no s\u00f3lo amenazan la integridad de estos ecosistemas sino que pueden constituir un riesgo para la salud humana ya que los r\u00edos representan un recurso h\u00eddrico fundamental para los humanos. En r\u00edos Mediterr\u00e1neos, esta problem\u00e1tica se ve agravada por la escasez h\u00eddrica t\u00edpica de la climatolog\u00eda de esta regi\u00f3n. Medsoul es un proyecto coordinado entre diferentes grupos de investigaci\u00f3n de la Universidad de Barcelona y el Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Blanes (CEAB-CSIC) con el reto de mejorar la eficiencia en el uso de los recursos h\u00eddricos naturales dentro del contexto de cambio clim\u00e1tico. El proyecto Medsoul pretende generar conocimiento cient\u00edfico y herramientas para mejorar la gesti\u00f3n del agua. Con este objetivo, el proyecto Medsoul ser\u00e1 desarrollado dentro del marco conceptual de Una Sola Salud, que integra los requisitos tanto para la salud de los ecosistemas como para la humana.
