Els resultats obtinguts indicaven que els hel\u00f2fits afavoreixen la retenci\u00f3 hidrol\u00f2gica i biol\u00f2gica dins dels canals. La pres\u00e8ncia d\u2019hel\u00f2fits incrementava el temps de resid\u00e8ncia de l\u2019aigua i afavoria els processos biogeoqu\u00edmics responsables de la transformaci\u00f3 i eliminaci\u00f3 del nitrogen i carboni com s\u00f3n la assimilaci\u00f3 biol\u00f2gica, la nitrificaci\u00f3 i la desnitrificaci\u00f3.
